Brick Lane

Nazneen Ahmed (Tannishtha Chatterjee) was married off at seventeen and wants a life that is more than the flat she keeps and the family she raises in east London. Her husband Chanu (Satish Kaushik) fills the rooms with plans and talk, and then a young man named Karim (Christopher Simpson) comes to the door. Sarah Gavron, in her first feature, adapts Monica Ali's novel and keeps the camera close on the small chores of Nazneen's days.
