Brief History of a Family

“Make yourself at home.”

A boy at a Chinese school starts spending time with Yan Shuo (Sun Xilun), a new friend nobody in the family can quite explain. He ends up at the dinner table of Tu Wei (Lin Muran), the only son of a middle-class couple, Tu Wei's Father (Zu Feng) and Tu Wei's Mother (Guo Keyu). Lin Jianjie sets the film in the years after the one-child policy, where a single child carries everything his parents never said aloud.
