Two Americans, Tommy Albright (Gene Kelly) and Jeff Douglas (Van Johnson), lose their way hunting in the Scottish Highlands and walk into a village that is not on any map. The people of Brigadoon go to bed at night and wake a hundred years later, and Vincente Minnelli lets the strangers find this out slowly. Tommy meets Fiona Campbell (Cyd Charisse), and the two of them are drawn together fast, though he has a life in New York waiting.
