Where did Adam Fenwick-Symes's manuscript go? Customs officials seized it at the border, and with it the money he needed to marry Nina Blount (Emily Mortimer). Stephen Fry sets this loose around the London socialites of the 1930s, whose parties fill the gossip columns each morning. Without that book Adam has no income and no way to afford a wedding, so he scrambles for cash among people who only ever spend it.
