Britain and the Blitz

Survivors of the London Blitz want to tell what those nights were like, when the air raids came and the city burned. Ella Wright uses newly found archive footage and their voices to build a picture of ordinary people in extraordinary darkness. What emerges is not heroism but grief and tenderness: the bonds forged when strangers sheltered together and held each other through the fear.
