Britannia Hospital

“Will they ever recover...?”

Britannia Hospital is preparing a gala anniversary with a visit from the Queen Mother when the reporter Mick Travis (Malcolm McDowell) turns up to cover it. Inside he finds strikers, union leaders, demonstrators, an African dictator and Professor Millar (Graham Crowden) running sinister experiments upstairs. Lindsay Anderson treats the hospital as England itself, an old institution that cannot stop celebrating itself while it comes apart.
