“Their graduation present was a trip to paradise, but they never thought they would land in hell.”

Two American friends, Alice (Claire Danes) and Darlene (Kate Beckinsale), are pulled out of an airport in Thailand after police find heroin in one of their bags. The trip was supposed to celebrate graduating high school, and it had come down to a day trip to Hong Kong offered by a charming Australian they had only just met. Jonathan Kaplan keeps the two girls close together in a prison cell, where Alice sits on the floor and Darlene stands at the bars.
