Broken Embraces

Harry Caine (Lluís Homar) is a blind screenwriter in Madrid who goes by a pen name, and fourteen years ago he was Mateo Blanco, a director shooting his last film. A visit from the past sends him back to that shoot and to Lena (Penélope Cruz), the actress at its center, who was also the mistress of a powerful, obsessive businessman. Pedro Almodóvar lets the memory unfold in full color, and Harry sits in the present with his fingers resting on a script he cannot read.
