“Some leave. Some retrieve.”

In South Korea, a church runs a baby box where infants can be left anonymously. Sang-hyun (Song Kang-ho) and Dong-soo (Gang Dong-won) quietly take a newborn from it to sell, until the mother, So-young (IU), comes back asking for him, while Detective Lee (Lee Joo-young) and her partner Su-jin (Bae Doona) watch from a distance. Hirokazu Kore-eda follows So-young as she decides what she owes this child.
