Brother Sun, Sister Moon

(1972)Directed by Franco Zeffirelli121 min · PGDrama, History
“A Motion Picture That Celebrates The Timeless Joy of Original Innocence”

In the Assisi of the early thirteenth century, Francesco Bernardone (Graham Faulkner) comes home from war ill and feverish, a cloth merchant's son who once spent his nights in taverns. When he recovers he is a different man, and he gives up his father Pietro's (Lee Montague) money to rebuild an abandoned church. Franco Zeffirelli films the Umbrian hills and the barefoot followers who gather around him with the unhurried eye of someone looking at paintings.
