Bucking Broadway

(1917)Directed by John Ford54 minWestern, Romance
“A ranch foreman battles a rich stockbroker for the affections of a beautiful young woman.”

On a Wyoming ranch in 1917, the cowboy Cheyenne Harry (Harry Carey) is in love with the boss's daughter, Helen Clayton (Molly Malone). Then a wealthy visitor, Captain Thornton, arrives at the ranch and Helen elopes with him to the city, where it is nothing like what she pictured. Ford, working in silent film and early in his career, was long thought to have lost this one, until a print turned up in a French archive in 2002.
