Duke Johnson (Fred Williamson) comes to a small Southern town for one reason, to bury his brother, and expects to be gone once the funeral is over. The estate takes sixty days to process, so he stays, reopens the dead man's nightclub, and refuses to pay the local police the bribes they demand. Arthur Marks keeps Duke close to Aretha (Pam Grier), the woman beside him as the threats and beatings start landing on both of them.
