Buddy
“Welcome to a family that will make yours seem tame”
Trudy Lintz (Rene Russo) has always wanted a house full of animals, and in the 1930s she gets one, taking in a sickly baby gorilla named Buddy and raising him beside her chimpanzees as if they were her children. Caroline Thompson, who also wrote it, keeps the story close to the household, with Bill (Robbie Coltrane) looking on as Buddy grows to eight hundred pounds. Trudy never stops treating him as her child, and that bond is what the film is built around.
