“Billy Brown just got out of jail. Now he’s going to serve some real time. He’s going home.”

Billy Brown (Vincent Gallo) walks out of prison after five years with one thing on his mind: his parents believe he has a wife and a government job. So he grabs Layla (Christina Ricci), a teenage tap dancer, and orders her to pose as his bride at dinner with Jimmy (Ben Gazzara) and Jan Brown (Anjelica Huston). Gallo directs the odd pairing in cramped rooms and bare Buffalo winter light, a hostage who keeps turning up gentler than her captor expects.
