Burn!

(1969)Directed by Gillo Pontecorvo129 minHistory, Drama, War
“The man who sells war.”

Sir William Walker (Marlon Brando), a British mercenary, lands on the Portuguese-held island of Queimada in the mid-19th century and sets about starting a slave revolt to open the sugar trade to Britain. Gillo Pontecorvo follows him as he picks José Dolores (Evaristo Márquez) out of the cane workers and teaches him to lead. Years on, the same cane fields lie bleached under the Caribbean sun, and Walker stands among them, sent back to deal with the men he built up.
