Business Is Business

Greta (Ronny Bierman) and Nel (Sylvia de Leur) work the Amsterdam red light district, picking out clients and talking them into elaborate staged fantasies. Some want a strict headmistress, some a surgeon with a willing patient, and some want the two women dressed as chickens. Paul Verhoeven's first feature sets this against Nel's abusive marriage, so the costumes are a job, and the job is where the women hold power.
