“He's mad. He's bad. And he's Bustin' Loose.”

In 1981, ex-con Joe Braxton (Richard Pryor) breaks his probation and is handed a way out: drive a busload of special kids across the country. Beside him on the road is Vivian Perry (Cicely Tyson), the teacher in charge of Julio, Harold, Ernesto and the rest. Oz Scott directs it as a road picture, keeping the camera on the bus and the people crowded inside.
