Butch Cassidy (Paul Newman) and the Sundance Kid (Robert Redford) rob trains in 1890s Wyoming, and a posse that never tires is now riding hard on their trail. George Roy Hill follows the two friends as they run for Bolivia with Etta Place (Katharine Ross) in tow. Behind them the west is filling up with law and wire, and the only life these men know is closing around them.
