“Stop and taste the world.”

Moncho (Manuel Lozano) is a shy boy in Galicia in 1936, afraid of school until his teacher, Don Gregorio (Fernando Fernán Gómez), starts showing him the world beyond the village. José Luis Cuerda follows their lessons through ordinary days, while talk of a coming war reaches the edges of the classroom. Moncho sits at his desk, the old teacher at the front, a boy learning the names of things.
