“Rock-and-roll icon Conrad Birdie is about to go into the Army, and plans are being made to arrange his final going-away concert.”

Albert J. Peterson (Jason Alexander) needs one last payday from his client Conrad Birdie (Marc Kudisch), a rocker about to be drafted into the Army. His secretary and girlfriend, Rose Alvarez (Vanessa Williams), comes up with the plan: Birdie will kiss a random fan goodbye on The Ed Sullivan Show. Gene Saks directs this ABC telemovie of the Broadway musical, and it plays as a love letter to the sound of a whole country screaming over one singer.
