Byelorussian Station

(1971)Directed by Andrey Smirnov101 minDrama

Aleksey Glazyrin (Viktor Kharlamov) wants his old wartime comrades back around one table, and a funeral gives him the reason. The four men last stood together on the Byelorussian railway station in the summer of 1945, and twenty-five years on they gather to mourn a friend, led by Andrey Smirnov's quiet, grief-struck story. Evgeni Leonov plays one of them, and each carries the war home in a different way, none of them quite sure how to talk about it.
