Cabeza de Vaca
Alvar Núñez Cabeza de Vaca (Juan Diego) is one of the few men left from a Spanish expedition that came apart off the coast of Florida in 1528, six hundred dead. He walks inland looking for his countrymen and finds the Iguase instead, and over eight years he becomes a healer among them. Nicolás Echevarría follows him through that long stretch, a bearded man in the open country, the sun bleaching everything he passes.
