Danny Noonan (Michael O'Keefe) caddies at a country club and wants the scholarship that would keep him out of the lumber yard. First he has to win over Judge Smails (Ted Knight), the club's stiff founder who sponsors the tournament, while Al Czervik (Rodney Dangerfield), a loud newcomer with money, keeps wrecking the Judge's afternoons. Harold Ramis lets Danny stand between the two men, caddying for a boss he needs and a rival he can't help liking.
