“Sometimes you've got to stand out to fit in.”
In the 1960s, at a United States Army stockade in West Germany, Pfc. Franklin Fairchild Bean (Charlie Sheen) is sent down for drunken, rebellious behavior. He is the only white inmate among the prisoners, and he answers to MSgt. Otis V. McKinney (Martin Sheen), a warden whose cruelty is bound up with his bigotry. Martin Sheen, directing his son, keeps the camera inside the stockade, so the walls feel close from the first scene.
