Café Lumière

Yoko Inoue (Yo Hitoto), a writer in Tokyo, spends her days tracing the life of a composer from the 1930s, while carrying a child by a man she has no wish to marry. Hajime (Tadanobu Asano), who runs a used bookstore, helps with her research and becomes the one person she is easy around. Hou Hsiao-hsien, working in homage to Ozu, sets a pregnancy and an unfinished project against a city that keeps disappearing.
