“Women's prison U.S.A. - Rape Riot and Revenge! White Hot Desires melting cold prison steel!”

The prison's doctor is running illegal "therapeutic" experiments on the inmates, and the warden above him is repressed and oppressive. Jacqueline Wilson (Erica Gavin) arrives on drug charges and finds the women, including Maggie (Juanita Brown), already planning their revenge. Jonathan Demme, in his first film as director, sets it to a John Cale score with Mike Bloomfield on guitar.
