Caligula

“Absolute power corrupts”

Tiberius (Peter O'Toole) dies, paranoid to the end, and his heir Caligula (Malcolm McDowell) takes the throne of Rome with his sister Drusilla (Teresa Ann Savoy) at his side. Tinto Brass follows the new emperor as his rule curdles into bloodshed and excess, with Caesonia (Helen Mirren) among those drawn into the court. The film shows what happens when one man's appetites are allowed to become the law of an empire.
