Call Me Madam
Nobody in Washington can say why the president hands an embassy to Sally Adams (Ethel Merman), a society hostess known for her parties, and sends her to a small European grand duchy. Walter Lang directs this Irving Berlin musical, with Donald O'Connor as Kenneth Gibson and Vera-Ellen as Princess Maria. Merman stands in the Technicolor of a palace ballroom, her voice loud enough to fill it.
