The Alaska gold rush is on, and Jack Thornton (Clark Gable) can't win enough at cards to pay his way north. Then he buys Buck, a sled dog that is part wolf, for $250, and the dog helps him win the supplies he needs to go. William A. Wellman shoots the trail and the Yukon in bright, bleached daylight, with Loretta Young (Claire Blake) and Jack Oakie (Shorty Hoolihan) along for the trip.
