In a 1920s Paris of lavish Art Deco rooms, Marguerite Gautier (Alla Nazimova) lives as a courtesan, surrounded by admirers, until she falls for the young Armand Duval (Rudolph Valentino). Ray C. Smallwood directs this silent adaptation of Dumas's story. Armand's father asks her to give him up for the sake of the boy's career, and Marguerite weighs a love she has just found against the future of the man she wants.
