Candyman

“Dare to say his name.”

Anthony McCoy (Yahya Abdul-Mateen II), a painter in Chicago, goes looking for the story of Candyman in hopes of finding new subject matter for his work. He learns the legend from William Burke (Colman Domingo), and the research starts to cost him his sleep and his grip on what is real. Nia DaCosta, who wrote the script with Jordan Peele, treats the legend as a story a neighborhood tells about the violence it has lived with.
