“The popcorn's in the lobby. The nuts are on the screen.”

A sheikh (Jamie Farr) puts up $1 million for a cross-country race, and J.J. McClure (Burt Reynolds) is crazy enough to enter, with his friend Victor (Dom DeLuise) riding along. Hal Needham sends them across the American landscape in a pile of fast cars and bigger names, Dean Martin and Sammy Davis Jr. among them. The money is on the table, every driver wants it, and the only way to claim it is to reach the finish first.
