Capone
“The Man Who Made the Twenties Roar”
In New York, a young Al Capone (Ben Gazzara) catches the eye of Johnny Torrio (Harry Guardino), a visiting Chicago criminal who offers him a place running Prohibition alcohol sales in Illinois. Capone climbs through Torrio's gang, takes it over, and starts eliminating enemies and fixing elections. Steve Carver's film treats his rise as a bargain, where each new level of wealth and power is paid for with his enemies' lives and his own safety.
