Capote

(2005)Directed by Bennett Miller114 min · RCrime, Drama
“In New York City, he was the ultimate insider. But out here, he was on the outside, looking in.”

Truman Capote (Philip Seymour Hoffman) wants a subject big enough to turn his reputation as a New York wit into a lasting book. He finds it in a small newspaper item about a family murdered in Kansas, and The New Yorker, run by William Shawn (Bob Balaban), sends him to write it up. Bennett Miller follows him through the investigation and his growing closeness to Perry Smith (Clifton Collins Jr.), a man he cannot afford to lose and cannot afford to trust.
