Captain January

Nobody knows where Star (Shirley Temple) came from, only that Captain January (Guy Kibbee), the keeper of a lighthouse, pulled her from the water after her parents drowned and has raised her there ever since. Then Agatha Morgan (Sara Haden), a truant officer, decides a girl growing up in a lighthouse belongs in boarding school instead. David Butler directs it as a musical comedy-drama, with Shirley Temple at the center of nearly every scene.
