A female gorilla named Cheela ends up in the care of Dr. Sigmund Walters (John Carradine), a glandular researcher who has stopped caring what his work costs anyone else. His experiments run on hormone injections, and he has set his mind on making her human. Edward Dmytryk, working in 1943, keeps the film to a tight, bare-bones B-picture length, close to the cages and the laboratory.
