Caramel

Layale (Nadine Labaki) runs a beauty salon in Beirut, and the women who come through its door bring their hopes and fears along with them. Nisrine (Yasmine Al Massri), Rima (Joanna Moukarzel) and Jamale (Gisèle Aouad) work and gossip there too, and their stories cross in the colorful, close space of the shop. Labaki, directing her first feature, writes the lead role for herself and gives each woman an equal share of the screen.
