(1996)Directed by Ken Loach125 minWar, Drama, Romance
“A dream called freedom. A nightmare called Nicaragua.”

George Lennox (Robert Carlyle), a Glasgow bus driver, wants to get close to Carla (Oyanka Cabezas), a Nicaraguan exile whose back is scarred and whose life in the city hangs by very little. When she tells him her boyfriend has vanished and her family has scattered, he takes her to Nicaragua in 1987 to find out what became of them. Ken Loach sets the search in the middle of the Contra War, and George is far from home with no way to protect her.
