“The man who hijacked the world”

Ilich Ramírez Sánchez (Edgar Ramírez), a Venezuelan revolutionary, wants a name that travels the world, and he takes the one the press gives him: Carlos. Olivier Assayas follows him from the early cells he builds with Johannes Weinrich (Alexander Scheer) to the 1975 raid on OPEC headquarters, and on toward French police. Underneath the planning and the border crossings is a plain question of how a cause can turn into a career.
