Carol

“Some people change your life forever.”

In 1950s New York, Therese Belivet (Rooney Mara), a department-store clerk who wants to be a photographer, serves Carol Aird (Cate Blanchett), an older married woman buying a Christmas gift, and Carol notices her. Carol is in the middle of a difficult divorce from Harge (Kyle Chandler), while Therese has a boyfriend pressing her toward a future she hasn't chosen. Todd Haynes films the pair through windows and car glass, so they are always half-hidden.
