In New York City, nineteen-year-old Carrie Pilby (Bel Powley) is a Harvard graduate and a genius who finds most of the people around her hard to stand. Her therapist hands her a list of tasks, and the dating scene is on it, with Susan Johnson following her through the city. Carrie has to trade her certainty about people for actual company, and being alone is the only thing she is sure of.
