“When it comes to Beauty Queens - It's 'Carry On' and Bust!”

In 1973, the seaside town of Fircombe is rundown and short of visitors. Councillor Sid Fiddler (Sidney James) talks Mayor Frederick Bumble (Kenneth Connor) into a beauty contest to bring the crowds back, and Gerald Thomas directs the scramble that follows. Councillor Prodworthy leads the town's women's liberation movement against it, and Hope Springs (Barbara Windsor) is caught in the middle of a fight over who gets to say what a woman is for.
