Bernie Bishop (Kenneth Connor) just wants to get through his stay at Haven Hospital, but the men's ward he lands in is causing more trouble than the rest of the building put together. Gerald Thomas fills it with a bumbling nurse, a nuisance of a colonel, a quiet romance between Ted York (Terence Longdon) and Nurse Denton (Shirley Eaton), and a Matron who chills the room whenever she walks past. Under the pranks, it's about strangers looking after each other.
