Carved: The Slit-Mouthed Woman

“Am I Pretty...?”

Thirty years ago, a suburban town lived in fear of a woman in a long coat who walked the streets with a pair of large scissors. She would stop a child, take off her mask to show a face cut open at the mouth, and ask whether she was pretty. Koji Shiraishi follows Kyoko Yamashita (Eriko Sato), a divorced schoolteacher, and her colleague Noboru Matsuzaki (Haruhiko Kato) as children begin to vanish, and the old story stops being a story anyone can laugh off.
