Casa de Lava

Mariana (Inês de Medeiros), a nurse from Lisbon, flies to the Cape Verde Islands with Leão (Isaach de Bankolé), an immigrant worker who has been in a coma since a construction accident. Pedro Costa follows her as she looks for his family on an island that was once a Portuguese colony, among people who are unsure what to make of her. Mariana waits in the doorway of a house, Leão asleep behind her, and the island stays out of reach.
