Casanova's Return

Leo Bernardi (Toni Servillo) has just wrapped what he knows is his last film, and he cannot make himself accept it. The picture adapts Schnitzler's novella about an aged Giacomo Casanova (Fabrizio Bentivoglio), broke and heading home to Venice after years in exile. Gabriele Salvatores sets the two men side by side, the old seducer and the old director, each watching the girl, Marcolina (Bianca Panconi), and the work that once defined him slip out of reach.
