Case 39

“Some cases should never be opened.”

In an office stacked with other people's troubles, social worker Emily Jenkins (Renée Zellweger) thinks she has seen every kind of damage a home can do. Then comes the case of ten-year-old Lillith (Jodelle Ferland), whose parents turn on her, and Emily takes the girl in herself until a foster family can be found. Christian Alvart keeps Emily's house quiet around the two of them, Lillith's small figure waiting at the edge of the frame.
