James Bond (Daniel Craig) has just been promoted to 007 and wants to prove himself worthy of the license to kill. MI6 sends him to a high-stakes poker game in Montenegro to bankrupt Le Chiffre (Mads Mikkelsen), a financier for terrorist organizations. Bond wins the game but loses Vesper Lynd (Eva Green), the treasury agent assigned to watch over him, and discovers that the cost of the mission runs deeper than any previous assignment.
