Cast a Deadly Spell

“Bullets! Demons! The end of the world! Can’t hold a man like this!”

Det. Harry Philip Lovecraft (Fred Ward) wants one thing, a quiet case in a 1940s where everybody uses magic except him. Then Amos Hackshaw (David Warner) hires him to find a stolen book of spells, and the search points him toward Connie Stone (Julianne Moore) and a crowd of people who would rather he stopped asking. Martin Campbell sets the whole case in a world of spells and smoke, and Harry works it in the same rumpled coat, refusing to say he is out of his depth.
