“Even in war… murder is murder.”

Private Eriksson (Michael J. Fox) is new to Vietnam in 1966 and wants one thing: to get through his tour by trusting the men around him. His squad belongs to Sgt. Tony Meserve (Sean Penn), who is loud and sure of himself and holds the others together. Brian De Palma builds the story on the 1966 Hill 192 incident, and the film turns on Eriksson and Meserve, one man looking for a leader, the other with no wish to be questioned.
